The Oscypek Museum at 28 Jagiellońska Street is a good place to visit if you want to see Podhale “from the inside”. Instead of the classic tour of display cases, you will see a demonstration explaining, step by step, how oscypek is made, where its characteristic flavour comes from, and why traditional production looks the way it does.
There are many interesting facts about the pastoral culture of the region, and the whole event takes the form of a short, accessible meeting that fits well into the day’s schedule, even when the weather is not conducive to longer trips to the mountains. At the end, you can usually visit a shop with regional products and take something with you for later.
