Tatra Museum

If you want to understand the Tatra Mountains better, plan a visit to the Dr Tytus Chałubiński Tatra Museum in Zakopane. It is one of the oldest and largest regional museums in Poland, which tells the story of Podhale, highlander culture and the nature of the Tatra Mountains in a wonderful way.

The main building at 10 Krupówki Street houses permanent exhibitions guiding visitors through the world of highlander costumes, crafts and everyday life, as well as the fauna, flora and geology of the Tatra Mountains – all presented in a modern way, with a wealth of details and exhibits.

The museum is not just one address: it also has numerous branches and subsidiaries – so you can treat them as a cultural “trail” for less obvious afternoons.

Practical tip: visiting hours and rules may change seasonally, so it’s best to check the latest information before you go.
